Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to use Product Listing Studio?
+
A Mac running macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. For best image quality, an iPhone XR or later with iOS 16+, signed into the same Apple Account as your Mac with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, will connect via Continuity Camera with no cables or extra apps. No iPhone? The app also works with your Mac’s built-in FaceTime HD camera or any USB camera.
Do I need an iPhone?
+
No. Continuity Camera is recommended because the iPhone’s rear camera produces the sharpest product shots, but the app works with your Mac’s built-in FaceTime HD camera or any USB camera. Pick the camera you want from the toolbar picker.
Which iPhones support Continuity Camera?
+
iPhone XR or later running iOS 16+. For best results, iPhone 11 or newer is recommended. The Ultra Wide camera (used for Center Stage and Desk View) requires iPhone 11 or later.
How does the camera connect to my Mac?
+
Product Listing Studio uses Apple’s built-in Continuity Camera feature when an iPhone is nearby — it appears automatically as a camera source, no pairing or configuration. If no iPhone is paired, the app falls back to your Mac’s built-in or any connected USB camera. Use the camera picker in the toolbar to switch between sources at any time.
What size are the output photos?
+
Photos are automatically cropped to a perfect 1:1 square. You can choose from four size presets in Settings → Output: 1080px, 1440px, 2160px (default), or 3024px. All major marketplaces accept square images and they display best in search results and listings.
Where are my photos saved?
+
You choose the destination folder in Settings → General, or change it anytime with ⌘⇧O. Photos are saved as JPEG files directly to that folder the instant you capture them. Use ⌘R to reveal your photos in Finder. Organize by listing, batch, date — whatever fits your workflow.
Can I adjust the image quality?
+
Yes. JPEG quality is adjustable from 50% to 100% in Settings → Output (default is 92%). Higher quality means larger file sizes. For most marketplace listings, 85–92% is the sweet spot — sharp enough for zoomed-in detail without bloating your uploads.
Does the app collect any data?
+
No. Product Listing Studio does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All photos stay on your Mac in the folder you choose. The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no network calls. See our
Privacy Policy for details.
The camera feed isn't showing up. What should I do?
+
First, try the camera picker in the toolbar — tap Look for iPhone again to retry the Continuity Camera handshake. If that doesn’t work, confirm your iPhone and Mac are signed into the same Apple Account, both have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on, and your iPhone is running iOS 16+ with your Mac on macOS 14+. Locking and unlocking your iPhone often helps. While you sort it out, you can switch to your Mac’s built-in camera from the same picker so you’re not blocked. If issues persist, check Apple’s Continuity Camera support page.
Is Product Listing Studio free?
+
Product Listing Studio is a free download. The free version includes the full camera, live preview, auto square crop, and all size presets — you can save up to 3 photos to try the complete workflow. To unlock unlimited saves and JPEG quality control, it’s a one-time $7.99 purchase through the Mac App Store. No subscription, no account required.
What happens after I save 3 photos on the free version?
+
You can still use the camera, preview, and compose shots — you just can’t save any more photos until you unlock the full version. Your 3 saved photos are yours to keep. Upgrading is a one-time $7.99 purchase through the Mac App Store — no subscription.
